

Floyd Mitchell Honeycutt, 74, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, March 19, 2023. He was born on October 31, 1948 in Albemarle, North Carolina to the late Floyd Daniel Honeycutt and Hattie Jones Honeycutt.
Mitchell is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Pauline Lewis Honeycutt; a son, Leigh Mitchell Honeycutt; a daughter, Megan Renee Daniels; a sister, Shirley Honeycutt Mullis and husband, Lance; two grandchildren, Piper Renee Daniels and Savannah Rose Daniels; numerous nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Jackie Cook and husband William, Shirley Clemmons and husband Charles, and Joni Barnes; and his lifelong childhood friend and brother Franklin Kluttz and wife Cheryl.
Mitchell served proudly in the United States Coast Guard from 1968-1972. He received his Bachelor Degree in Geology from Western Carolina University in 1976 and his Master’s Degree from Kent State University in 1978. He retired from ARCO Oil and Gas Company/BP in 1999 as an Exploration Manager. He later worked for two independent oil and gas companies before becoming a consulting geologist for Terra Nova Energy in Midland, Texas until 2018.
His hobbies included playing his many guitars, biking with his family, and working in the yard.
A memorial service will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Winnabow, North Carolina on October 21, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.
