Joseph Monroe Hewett Jr.

“Mr. Junior” was born October 29, 1929 in Shallotte, NC to the late Joseph Monroe and Galetta “Lettie” Weeks Hewett, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Stump Hewett.

Mr. Junior was a US Army Veteran having served in Europe and Asia. He was retired from the Federal Paper Company. Mr. Junior was a Deacon in his church, a long time Sunday School Teacher a Free Mason and he was a long time member with the Shallotte Volunteer Fire Department and a previous Chief of the Shallotte Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Surviving are his sons Joseph Hewett III and wife Katherine of Supply NC, Stephen Ray Hewett of Shallotte Point NC, Jeffrey Brian Hewett of Shallotte Point NC, Michael Kevin Hewett and wife Debra of Clayton NC, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The family will be receiving visitation Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Coble Ward Funeral Home in Supply NC. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM the Old Shallotte Baptist Church, 394 Longwood Rd. NW, Ocean Isle, NC with grave side services at the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Shallotte NC.
