Lucinda Evans Holden

Mrs. Holden was born in Brunswick Co. on January 25, 1922 and was a daughter of the late James Weldon Evans and Thelma Long Evans. She was wife of the late Richard Sidney Holden, Sr. and was also predeceased by two grandchildren, Stacy Holden and Roy Alan Holden; three brothers, Elder Evans, Coolidge Evans, and Joe Evans. She was a charter member of Supply Baptist Church and currently was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed gardening and especially growing roses. She enjoyed crocheting and was an excellent seamstress and cook, she loved her family dearly. She was very blessed in her lifetime to have seen three different sets of fifth generations in her family.

Mrs. Holden is survived by four children; Shelba Caison and husband O’Neil of Supply; Roy Holden and wife Nancy of Supply; Robert Holden and wife Annette of Bolton; and Rich Holden of Supply; a brother, Rifton Evans of Ash; three sisters, Ethel Mae Simmons; Dula Bell Stocks Smith, and Linda Stocks, all of Old Dock; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Thursday April 28, 2016 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Reverend Anthony Clemmons, Reverend Wayne Faulk, and Reverend Lamont Hemminger officiating. An internment service will follow in the Holden Cemetery, Supply.

Serving as pallbearers will be J.C. Evans, Tracy Evans, Samuel Holden, Daniel Holden, Jeff Caison, and Kyle Caison.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family one hour prior to the service at Mt. Olive Baptist Church 2919 Galloway Rd. Bolivia, NC.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorials in Lucinda Holden’s name be directed to SECU Hospice House of Brunswick 955 Mercy Ln. Bolivia, NC 28422 or a Cancer Society of one’s choice.
