Margaret R Benton

Mrs. Benton was born in Brunswick County on August 11, 1930 and was daughter of the late Herbert and Sadie Sullivan Rabon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Benton, Jr., and siblings, Herbert Leon, William Lee, Thomas “Tommy”, Nola Monaghan and Emma Young. She was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church and a devoted wife and mother.

She is survived by her children, Ann Locklear, Harry L. Benton III, Connie Russ and husband, Van, all of Leland, and Mimi Braddock and husband, Mike, of Winnabow; sister-in-law, Cindy Rabon; special friends, Mr. Jim, Ernest and Faye McElveen, and Russ Kennedy; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, August 18, 2024 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Town Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Anthony Clemmons officiating.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Locklear, Rick Russ, Michael Braddock II, Cory Braddock, Fred Ferrell and Jonathan Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Ward, James Rabon, Pat Monaghan, H L Rich, and Russ Kennedy.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at White Funeral Cremation Service, Bolivia Chapel, 603 Ocean Highway East, Bolivia, NC.
