Myrna McSwain

She was born September 10, 1948, and was daughter of the late Earl and Thelma Rice. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Myrna lived a life filled with adventure, laughter and an unwavering love for those she held dear.

A true spirit of joy and curiosity, Myrna found her greatest happiness near the water. She loved crabbing, fishing, and exploring the world around her. Her adventures took her to all 50 states and much of Mexico, a milestone that reflected her sense of wonder and her appreciation for life’s beauty. Myrna also had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor, the kind that could brighten a room and lift any spirit.

Myrna’s legacy lives on through the countless memories she created—days by the water, family travels, shared laughter, and the deep, unwavering love she gave freely.

She will be remembered always, missed immeasurably, and cherished forever.

Myrna is survived by her husband, Charles McSwain, of the home; son, Rodney Cole, and wife, Christy, of Greenville, NC; daughter, Jennifer Reese, and partner, Autumn Hughes, of Wilmington, NC; brothers, Larry Rice, of Carthage, NC, James Rice, of Frederick, MD, Robert Rice, of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Taylor Cole, Caroline Cole, and Beckton Reese. She loved her family fiercely and poured her heart into every moment she spent with them.

Services will be private.
