September 13, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 86 years old.
She was born in Kentucky on October 1, 1937. Her family relocated to Bolivia, NC where Phyllis graduated school and got married. She had 7 children. Later in her life, she met her late husband, Dan. Dan was everything she had dreamed of and they lived in Kelly, NC until his untimely death on October 2, 2000. Shortly afterwards she moved to Delco, where she spent the rest of her days with her daughter Debra and her beloved pets.
Phyllis loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals and desserts. When working in her
oldest daughter's restaurant, she served the customers with a smile and even created several of their
signature dessert cups. Phyllis loved pets and was jokingly teased about sharing custody of the
neighbors' animals. All animals were welcome at her home, but she especially had a soft spot for dogs
and cats. She would often take in stray or abandoned pets and give them a warm and loving home. She
loved her family, pets and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Wanda, Pat, Betty, Richard and Kurt; her children, Jerry
Hickman (Harriett), Donna Hickman Babson (Ronnie), Ricky Hickman, Vickie Sneeden (Jeff), Debra Jordan, Jr. Harrelson (Kay), Dale Harrelson (Carmen); 15 grandchildren and more than 25 great (great)
grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Bonnie Maggard and husband Don Morrison.
A memorial service is scheduled for two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Cheerful Hope Baptist Church, 1810 Byrdville Freeman Rd. Delco, NC.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local animal shelter of your choice on her behalf.
