Sarah Elise was a gift from God who brought joy to her family and medical team who cared for her, as well as the family, friends, and community who followed her story. For the strength her body lacked, her spirit made up in vivaciousness. When she felt her best, she showed us a vibrant personality of determination, humor, and spunk. She held a special bond with her brother, and they had the sweetest mutual admiration for each other. Sarah Elise is already deeply missed, but we hold fast to the hope we have in Jesus Christ that she is healed and whole, and we will see her again when He returns or calls us home.
Sarah Elise is survived by her parents, Sam and Hannah Price Jennings, and brother, Phillip, of Bolivia, NC; paternal grandparents, Eddie and Cindy Jennings, of Elizabeth City, NC; great-grandmother, Ella Jennings, of Hertford, NC; great-grandmother, Shirley Denton Bennett, of Chinquapin, NC; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Beverly Price, of Clayton, NC; great-grandmother, Elizabeth Williams, of Bolivia, NC; great-great-uncle and aunt Mike and Annette Laska, of Bolivia, NC; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
A service of praise for her life will be held on Thursday, January 30th, at 5:00 PM at Beach Road Church in Southport, NC, with visitation to follow, also at BRC.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations in her memory to be made to the Annie Louise Foundation, which provided an adaptive outfit for her to be able to wear during her hospital stay and also gives resources to families of children with complex medical needs, or to a GoFundMe we have set up to provide some resources to the pediatric cardiac unit at Duke to help other children and families like us in the future.
