Steve Parrish, Sr.

Mr. Parrish was born in Brunswick County on May 30, 1956 and was the son of Margaret Bellamy Parrish of Supply and the late Henry D. “H.D.” Parrish, Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife Sabrina Fulford Parrish in 2011. Steve owned and operated S&S Trawl Shop of Supply for more than 30 years. He served on the Board of Directors at the Tri Beach Fire Department, was on the N.C. Fisheries Association Board of Directors, the Division of Marine Fisheries Bycatch Reduction Team, the Observer Board, and was Vice President of the Brunswick County Commercial Fisherman’s Association. He received an award for Environmental Service from former Vice President, Al Gore for his work on the Turtle Excluder Program. He was also a deacon at Boones Neck Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his son, Steven Parrish and wife Amanda of Supply; his granddaughter, Riley Parrish; brother Christopher Parrish and wife Sandi of Supply; a sister, Pam Palmiter and husband Carl of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a very special friend, Amy Davis; nieces, Avery, Aleaha; nephews, Nicholas, Cameron, Brayden, Will, Gerik, Danny and Ronnie.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Shallotte Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tim Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Sabbath Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Doug Todd, Henderson Caison, John Broome, Bill Carter, Travis Hayes and Gordon Winfree.

Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Holden and Scott Taylor.

Friends are cordially invited to a time of visitation with the family from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at Shallotte Presbyterian Church.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during Steve’s illness, and especially Ricky Crabtree for his devotion and attention to Steve during this time.
