Victoria Maria Alvarez

Victoria Maria Alvarez, age 85, of Winnabow died Wednesday January 11, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Alvarez was born in New York City on March 6, 1931 and was daughter of the late George and Anna Williams Still. She was a retired registered nurse for 50 years and last worked at New Hanover Regional Medical Center prior to her retirement. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Southport.

She is survived by her husband, Severino L. Alvarez, six children, Severino Alvarez, Nancy Alvarez, Angela DeGroat, Rose Hanns, Laura Slott, and Elizabeth Holm; grandchildren, Kippy DeGroat, Chris DeGroat, Andy DeGroat, Severino Alvarez, Jessie Alvarez, Luke Slott, Mary Hanns, Braden and Jamie Holm; great-grandson Dennis DeGroat and great-great grandson Dennis DeGroat.

A memorial service will be held Monday January 16, 2017 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the White Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel 603 Ocean Hwy. E. Bolivia, N.C. 28422 with Father Doug Lawson officiating.

In lieu of customary remembrances the family asks with gratitude that memorial contributions in Victoria’s name be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
