

Bill was born May 6, 1947, in Clarksburg, WV, to the late Clifford Ray and Irmalee (Weekley) Corder.
In 1951, Bill and his parents moved to Elyria, Ohio. While growing up in Elyria, Bill was active in many sports and also delivered the daily Elyria Chronicle Telegram in the Spring Valley area for several years. After graduating from Elyria High School (1965), he was drafted into the United States Army in October, 1966. He served in Company B, 2nd Battalion, 37th Armor, stationed in Fürth, Bavaria, Germany, and received an honorable discharge in November 1968 as a Specialist E5.
After the Army, Bill relocated to Rockville, MD and began working for Montgomery County Government for a couple years and then decided to return to college. He then worked at the City of Rockville Water Treatment Plant in Potomac, MD, and then he returned to Montgomery County Government working in the Traffic Division. He worked 40+ years and the majority of those years were spent managing the daily operations in the newly created, state of the art, Traffic Management Center. Bill and his family settled in Damascus, MD and during those years, Bill was an active member of Wesley Grove United Methodist Church and was involved in the Cub and Boy Scouts in the Damascus area.
After retiring and relocating to Ocean Isle Beach, NC, in 2015, Bill enjoyed playing golf and was actively involved with the Calabash Elks Lodge 2679 and served as Tiler for several years, as well as, a member on the Veterans Affairs Committee, annual golf committee, set-up committee, weekly Bingo and volunteered many hours working in the kitchen.
Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lu (Harris) Corder, children Kelly Anne and husband, Todd Wauls and Michael and wife, Erin Corder; Grandchildren, William and Lucille Corder and Kathryn Wauls; Sister In-Law, Margaret Kay Harris; Nephew Ken and wife, Susan Kueny, Niece Kara and husband, Jeff Cable; Great Niece Laura and husband Patrick Burke and great nephews Jonathan Kueny and wife, Laura Brackett and Tyler Cable; great great nephews Oliver Kueny and Theo Burke. He is also survived by numerous cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his Sister-In-Law, Charlene Ann Harris.
A Memorial is planned for Family and Friends at the Calabash Elks Lodge 2679 on November the Eleventh, 2023 at Eleven-thirty in the morning. The Elk's Lodge is located at 937 Carter Drive, Calabash, NC, 28467. Interment will be at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV, at a later date.
