

passed away in her home on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 4:49 p.m., surrounded by her loving family.
Her passing came after several years of battling with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a long-term neurological disease.
Alma Rosa was born in Mexicali, BC Mexico on August 28, 1932
to her father, Professor Luzsiglo Guillermo Figueroa and her mother Guadalupe Velasquez Figueroa.
The memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday March 16, 2013,
at The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints.
The address is: 1590 E. H Street, Chula Vista, CA 91913.
A private cremation ceremony will take place on Tuesday March 12, 2013 at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Funeral arrangements have been made by Glen Abbey Mortuary.
Alma Rosa studied in Mexico where she obtained her teaching certificate. She enjoyed teaching children, playing the piano for them,
singing with them, and showing them various and creative ways of having fun.
Alma Rosa was an accomplished concert pianist often playing at the local radio station and for community activities and events.
Alma Rosa was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed making dresses for her younger sister who had a new dress to wear at nearly every Saturday night dance.
Later in her life, she enjoyed making clothes and costumes for her children including her daughter's wedding dress and dresses for all of the women in the wedding party. Alma Rosa also looked beautiful in the dresses she made for herself.
Alma Rosa was married to Raul Bernardo Gonzalez on October 11, 1958.
After getting married, she emigrated to Southern California with her husband, and
later became a proud citizen of the USA. They were later divorced in 1982 after 24 years of marriage.
While her own children were of school age, she began working as a teacher's assistant at one of the local grammar schools. She specialized in ESL-English As A Second Language. After several years of working as a teacher's assistant, Alma Rosa obtained a job with Bank of America and worked there for 15 years before retiring.
Alma Rosa is survived by her son, Alexander Takahashi, her daughter, Guadalupe Gonzalez, daughter-in-law, June Takahashi, four grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsey, Sasha and Ellison, and her younger sister, Zide Goldsmith, and ex-husband, Raul Gonzalez. She is preceded in death by her older brother, Dr. Guillermo Figueroa who passed away in 2012.
