Aniceto Edejer Hebron, age 86, of Imperial Beach, California, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, at home with his family. He was born on February 27, 1939, in Libertador, Candelaria, Zambales, Philippines, to Leon Ednalino Hebron and Afra Estel (Edejer) Hebron.
Aniceto grew up in Candelaria and Olongapo, Philippines graduating from Olongapo City National (JK Jackson) High School. He then enrolled in an automotive trade school. But America beckoned. His determination and adventurous spirit inspired Aniceto to be the first in his family to leave their motherland and join the United States Navy at age 19.
Aniceto dedicated a total of 40 years to military and civil service, serving as a sailor in the Vietnam War and enduring battered feet as a mail carrier. He faithfully held several positions at his church, Grace Alliance Church (now Fellowship) in Chula Vista, California.
He married his pen pal Nilda Lamera Cocjin on December 22, 1964, in Toronto, Canada. Together they labored in love for 60 hard-earned years. Aniceto preferred non-combat travel on cruise ships and the family RV, poring through Louis L’Amour paperbacks, intimidating car salesweasels, watching The Karate Kid and The Princess Diaries over-and-over, and stuffing extra helpings of desserts into his pockets at potlucks. Later in life, keeping up with their granddaughters brought him and his wife countless giggles and priceless joy.
Aniceto is survived by his three sons, Ruel Hebron (Grace), Richard Hebron (Yvette), and Aniceto C. Hebron (Milrose); his five granddaughters, Sabrina, Chloe, Francesca, Hunter, and Aiyanna; his sisters, Violeta, Jeanita and Proserpina; and his brothers, Claro and Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nilda Lamera (Cocjin) Hebron; his sister, Revelina; his brother, Adolfo; and his parents, Leon and Afra.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, March 4 at 1:00 pm at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Chapel of the Roses. Visitation precedes the Service of Remembrance at 10:00 am. Committal follows the service.
Your huge heart and warm smile will be cherished memories to all of us who knew you. Rest easy.
