Ann Galperin was born in 1925 as Anna Svoboda. She was born and raised in a small Pennsylvania town near Pittsburgh, where, in 1943, she graduated Montgomery Township High School as class valedictorian. In 1957, while in Cleveland, Ohio she married Irving Galperin, a research chemist (Ph.D.) with whom she had one son, Dan, now a software engineer in Foothill Ranch, CA. The family lived in New Jersey between 1960 and 1976. From 1943 through 1960, Ann worked as a medical office manager.
Ann lived in the same Bonita home from 1976 until her recent passing; she and Irving (1926-1997) were original Bonita Highlands homeowners. Over the past 20 years, she has been a regular volunteer at the Chula Vista Norman Park Senior Center, through which she also participated regularly in several bridge clubs, as she was an avid player. Among her other hobbies was raising dogs; at the time of her death she owned for three years a miniature pinscher named Sam.
