

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Antero A. Lazo, was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Antero will always be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Antero’s life journey began on January 2, 1920. He first greeted the world in Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. His parents’ names were Donato Lazo and Rita Lazo. He was raised with 8 siblings, Guillermo Lazo, Luis Lazo, Felicidad Lazo, Isabel Lazo, Juanita Lazo, Paulino Lazo, Presca Lazo and Severino Lazo.
Antero graduated from Laoag High School in the Philippines in 1937. He later continued his education by attending College in Laoag, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1941.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Antero experienced that with Mildred B. Foronda, and the couple exchanged wedding vows at the Bulusan Municipal Office on April 13, 1952 in Sorsogon, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Antero was committed to making his family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Antero was blessed with 8 children, Milante F. Lazo, Alex F. Lazo (deceased) Nestor F. Lazo, Nida L. Isidro, Rolando F. Lazo, Marita L. Falculan, Jean L. Uy and John F. Lazo (deceased). He worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs, raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Antero was blessed with the gift of 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Antero enjoyed what he did for a living. Antero served in the Philippine Army as a Sergeant for 3 years. He also was a Principal for Bulusan High School for 5 years and later became a Senior Bank Investor for 9 years at the Central Bank of the Philippines.
During times of leisure, Antero enjoyed playing Mahjong, reading and playing more Mahjong. Also, while in the Philippines he enjoyed Cock Fighting.
Antero left us on December 11, 2011. He passed away in Chula Vista, California of natural causes. He is survived by his wife, Mildred F. Lazo, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A funeral mass was held on December 17, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at Mater Dei Catholic Church in Chula Vista, California. Antero was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Antero was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Antero leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember him with a smile.
