

Arturo Lopez was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, a father, grandfather, and a loving husband. To family and friends who knew him best, Arturo will be remembered as a very exceptional person, who was also a jokester at heart. He had a real giving heart, independent spirit, and lived life without a care.
He was the son of Pedro Lopez and Maria Huezo Lopez. Arturo was born in Tijuana on December 15th, 1951, and grew up in San Diego.
Arturo was raised with 8 brothers and sisters. He had six brothers; Javier, Eddie, Jaime, Louie, Tito, and Willie. His two sisters were Lilia and Dora. Arturo was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Arturo graduated from San Diego High School in 1970. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers, but where Arturo excelled was as an accomplished Soccer player in High School.
Empathetic and loyal, Arturo was committed to making his family happy. He worked hard to be a good husband to his wife and father to his children, and did his best to fulfill their needs. Arturo was blessed with his loving wife Cristina of 42 years; with his 3 children Arturo Jr., Claudia, and Cristy. Another blessing for Arturo was the gift of 4 grandchildren, Bella, Sophie, Alec, and Jacob.
Showing a strong work ethic, Arturo worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career at NASSCO, where he was employed for more than 40 years until his retirement in January of 2014. Arturo always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Arturo found pleasure in sports. In high school, Arturo played Soccer and Wrestling, and recreationally played Golf throughout his adult life. Arturo was a huge sports fan, following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were the San Diego Chargers, Padres and Tijuana Xolos.
Arturo passed away on March 25, 2017 peacefully at home, where he was overcome by his battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cristina; his children Arturo, Claudia, and Cristy; and his grandchildren Sophie, Bella, Alec and Jacob. Services were held at Glenn Abbey Mortuary.
Simply stated, Arturo was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Arturo leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Arturo Lopez.
