Bella Rafael Canare, 73, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning of May 1, 2025. She was in the presence of many loved ones. Bella is survived by her husband of over 48 years, Danilo; her sons Jeffrey and Jimmy; her daughters-in-law Jessica and Carmela; her grandchildren Ja’den, Rebecca-Grace, Keira-Jaymz, Madisun-Jordan, Mila, and Cassius-Denver; and her siblings Matilde, Ciano, Ester, Emma, and Alice.
She was preceded in death by her parents Laureano and Mercedes, and her sister Juana. Born in Ugong, Polo, Bulacan, Philippines (now Valenzuela, Metro Manila), Bella was the Second youngest of seven children. She graduated from Capitol Institute in 1969 and then from the Martinez Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1974. She went on to dedicate 34 years to nursing. Known for her kindness, dedication, and humility, she touched the lives of countless colleagues and patients.
Bella was also a devoted member of St. Michael Catholic Church, a passionate gardener, a donor to dozens of charities, a very enthusiastic fan of live sports, and an avid watcher of Filipino romantic-comedies. She loved playing with her grandchildren, speaking with relatives in the P.I., treating others to a meal, and giving presents to all friends and family. Her joy, generosity, and one-of-a-kind personality will be deeply missed.
Viewings will be held on May 27 and May 28 in the Magnolia Room at Glen Abbey Mortuary. Both viewings are from 5-9 p.m. with the second viewing having a prayer service at 6 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on May 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Burial will take place the same day at 11:30 a.m. at Glen Abbey Memorial Park. Reception immediately following at Chula Vista Golf Course.
