Betty Lou Newman

Betty Attended San Diego High School. She was a sergranette and a member of the Glee Club. Betty graduated in 1951 and began her New York Life Insurance Co career. She worked at NYL for 30 years before retiring.

Betty Married Raymond Stride and had two children, Pamela Pardy, of Chula Vista, California and Steven Stride of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.

After her divorce from Raymond Stride, she met and married Ralph Newman on April 22, 2000.

Betty was a member of the San Diego Parasol Strutters and the Chula Vista Rhythm Steppers. The two groups danced and performed shows at nursing homes and at assisted living facilities.

They also performed at the San Diego Fair and Balboa Park numerous times.

Betty is survived by her husband, Ralph Newman, and her children, Pamela and Steven. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Alvarez of Bonita, California, her six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Charles Hunter of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Jack Hunter of Santee, California, William Glennon of Locust Grove, California, and her sister Marie (Hunter) Singer of San Diego, California.

God took our beautiful lady home, but He left her spirit, kindness, and love so the memory of her will live on forever.

Services and a celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 10 AM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary on 3838 Bonita Rd, Bonita, California 91902
