

Carmen was born on February 19, 1940 in Sta Catalina, Lubao pampanga, Philippines. She was the daughter of Victoriano Santos and Veronica Manuel Santos. Carmen was raised with five siblings, her three sisters, Linda, Corazon and Elvira, and two brothers, Manolo and Daniel. Carmen was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings and they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Carmen had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Assumption Academy San Fernando in 1957. She went on and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Guagua National College in 1963.
On December 26, 1965 Carmen exchanged wedding vows with Renato Sembrano Galan at San Isidro, Guagua, Pampanga. Empathic and loyal, Carmen was committed to making her new family happy. Carmen was blessed with two sons, Victor Santos Galan and Michael Santos Galan. She worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Later on she was additionally blessed with two grandchildren.
Fortunately, Carmen enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Carmen worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. She worked at the Navy Exchange in Yokosuka, Japan and San Diego, California at the 32nd St. Naval Station where she worked 15 years as a supervisor.
Carmen enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were cooking, gardening, sewing, caring of grand kids, shopping, traveling and taking care of her pet dogs “Sparky & Shelby”. In addition, she actively contributed to needy people in her hometown of Sta Catalina, Lubao.
Carmen passed away on January 30, 2012 at San Diego, California. She died a natural death. She is survived by her husband, Renato Sembrano Galan, her son Victor Santos Galan, her son Michael Santos Galan, her daughter-in-law Aracheli Lipardo Galan, her granddaughter Katrina Lipardo Galan and her grandson Jonathon Lipardo Galan. A funeral service was held at the Little Chapel of the Roses in Bonita, California on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Carmen was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Carmen was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Carmen leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Carmen S.Galan.
