AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Carolyn Goding

5 mars 194817 février 2012

Carolyn was born to parents Joseph and Angeline. She has one sister, Rita, whom she always adored. Growing up she was a mischievous tomboy who enjoyed scaring her sister with lizards. Carolyn had an adventurous outgoing spirit and made friends with everyone she met.

At eighteen years old, she married Randy Goding and had three children, Steven, James and Rachael. They lived in San Diego where Carolyn worked as a civil servant for the U.S. Navy. She later went on to work as a trade specialist for U.S. Customs where she began her career in international trade.

In 1981, she married Charles Van Single. After working at U.S. Customs for thirteen years, she went on to start her successful Customs Brokerage business. She loved working long hours and growing her business. She took great pleasure in solving problems for her clients and her colleagues, which earned her respect and admiration. She was a board member for various trade organizations including the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce. She was the President of the San Diego Customs Broker Association for many years. She loved traveling with the Pacific Coast Council to Washington D.C. where she assisted in lobbying for the industry. She really enjoyed contributing to the various causes for the international trade community.

Her biggest passion was her children. She loved being a mom and taking care of her family. She cooked big Sunday dinners every week and always made sure to have extra. She was happiest when she was feeding people and receiving compliments on her culinary skills. She also enjoyed working on ceramics and giving her finished articles to her family members. She was a caring and affectionate mother and grandmother and was always available for her loved ones.

What made Carolyn special was her kind and generous spirit. She really loved people. She immediately befriended people and shared stories and personal anecdotes with them. She opened her house to people that needed it, often taking people in for months at a time. She could always be counted on to help in times of need.

Her professional accomplishments are too numerous to list, but what really defined Carolyn was the way she treated people. She wasn’t just a friendly person, she really cared about people. She was happiest when she was surrounded by loved ones and sharing food and stories. Her husband, children, sister and grandchildren will miss her more than words can say. All those who knew her will surely feel her absence. She was simply a phenomenal woman.

My heart goes out to the Goding family & friends. It's hard to lose someone who is loved by so many. I grew up next door to Carolyn & Rita. It saddens my heart to lose a member of the Jeff Street Gang. God Bless to all.

Thou it has been many, many years I remember so well going to Rita and Carolyn's house while growing up. - Carolyn always had time to play with us. Last time I saw Carolyn was at our nephews funeral, even then she had time to stop and remember younger days with me. My prayers are with you

Even though many miles separated us, the times we had together was fabulous. Your free spirit was like a breath of fresh air. We pray for comfort to the family and peace upon their hearts to know that she is resting in the arms of Jesus Christ. We will miss you Carolyn tremendously. Until we meet again in the presence of our heavenly Father, there we will all rejoice together for all eternity that miles will no longer separate.

My deepest sympathy to all family, and friends who knew Carolyn. I have known her since early childhood, when my parents( Ralph and Alma Carter) would take us to visit them on Jeff St. Although it has been many years, I will always remember the fun times we had as children, with our visits to to the Kunkle house. My sister and I always loved to go there. Patt Higginbotham ( Carter) Cunningham, Tn.

I knew Carolyn in grade school all through high school and wondered about her for years. I was so sorry to read of her passing through the Crawford High School link. She had a laugh that preceded her and she was always happy it seemed. We had some classes together at Crawford. God Bless you Carolyn and Rest in Peace...your work is done.
