

Charity Averion Arellano, loving mother and devoted wife passed away peacefully by natural causes, surrounded by family. Charity was born October 1, 1933 in Santa Rosa in Laguna, Philippines to Melicio & Maura Averion. She was the youngest of 4 children, her siblings were Martin, Nicholas and Pacita. Charity graduated from National Teachers College in Manila, Philippines and taught at Candelaria Quezon Elementary School. She married Mario Lagurin Arellano in 1958, who was enlisted in the United States Navy. They had 5 children and moved the family to the United States in 1965.
Charity later gave birth to her 2nd son and the family lived in San Pedro, California. She worked tirelessly to care for her children while working various jobs to support the family. She sold Avon cosmetics, Tupperware products, worked as a seamstress, and babysitter for working women in the military.
In 1971, the family moved to San Diego where she began working at Van De Camps Cannery. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, the casinos and spending time with family.
Charity is survived by her 6 children: daughters Cynthia Chenier, Mildred Ellis, Angelyn Gutierrez and Christine Showalter; sons Ben Arellano and Mario Arellano Jr; grandsons Michael Wallingford, Warren Gutierrez and Evan Arellano; and granddaughters Ashley Cofield, Ariel Showalter, Bethany Arellano, Camille Arellano and Delilah Arellano.
