

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Cresencia was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Cresencia will be remembered as an exceptional person.
Cresencia’s life journey began on June 14, 1938 where she was born in Camatiles, Urdaneta. She was raised in Pangasinan, Philippines. Her parents' were Francisco dela Cruz and Cresencia Mendaros Goroza. She was raised with 5 siblings Aurora, Cesar, Fred, Lorna and Francisco, Jr.
She attended and graduated from Urdaneta High School in 1955, then graduated from College earning her Associate Degree.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Cresencia experienced that with (deceased) Gonzalo Fontanilla Serna and the couple exchanged wedding vows in 1956. The wedding took place in the Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Cresencia was committed to making her new family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Cresencia was blessed with 5 children, Minda, Sally, gonzalo “Edgar”, James and Rick. Cresencia worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs raising her children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Cresencia was blessed with the gift 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Cresencia enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Cresencia worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Cresencia worked at Frederica Manor and Mt. Miguel Convalescent homes as an LVN.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Cresencia enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including a great passion for gardening, growing fruits and vegetables from the seedlings. She is up from the crack of dawn until dark nurturing her plants. She cooked and ate the vegetables fresh from her garden. She loved going to the Casino and playing scrabble at home. One of her accomplishments was that she owned her own boutique store called Lyra’s Boutique. Cresencia worked independently after retiring for various private home care facilities when requested.
Cresencia Goroza Serna left us on January 1, 2013 in San Diego, California. The cause of death was due to Cancer. She is survived by her list of Brother-in-law Rogelio (“Willie”) Serna whome he have lived with the family since he was 14 years old. Her children Minda Suasa (Fred), Sally Ungab (Fideles), Edgar, James (Hannah) and Rick. Her grandchildren Dawn, Rennie, Christopher, Rachele, Lauren, Ryan, Sarah, Marisah and R.J. Great-grandchildren-Ethan, Malia, Nathan, Isaiah, and Amaya her step-grandchildren Angel, Marco, Alexia and Hayden. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Funeral Service was held at The Little Chapel of the Roses in Bonita, California. Cresencia was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
So this is Cresencia’s life, the sum of the woman that she became. Simply stated, Cresencia was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Cresencia leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Cresencia Goroza Serna touched will always remember her with a smile.
