

March 13, 1944 – June 16, 2015
Daniel Robert Fitzsimmons passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 16, 2015 at the age of 71. He was born in Plainfield, NJ. Dan was confirmed in Saint Paul’s Church in 1956, Garwood, New Jersey. He served in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer (Chief Interior Communications) where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Battle “E” Ribbon, Navel “E” Ribbon, Navy Unit Citation, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. During his military service he received a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1982. Upon retirement from the Navy he was a Vocational Teacher at Southwestern Community College where he taught Computer Repair and upgrading.
Dan was also an active member of the Chula Vista Presbyterian Church in Chula Vista, CA. Dan’s hobbies were photography and gardening. He is survived by his Wife, Mary Fitzsimmons, his mother Doris Wilbur, two daughters Kimberly Smiley and Kelly Welch and their respective spouses Lowell Smiley and Scott Welch, two sons Thomas and Michael Fitzsimmons and four grandchildren Jeremy, Jessica, Samantha, and Jenna.
