

Edmund Almeda Pino, age 39, passed away on September 4, 2011 in San Diego, CA. Edmund (Joey) was born in Manila, Philippines on December 19, 1971. He attended various schools in San Diego, which include Perry Elementary School, Bell Junior High School, and Morse High School. Family members refer to Edmund as “Joey.” He is the youngest of two children.
Edmund’s many passions were his family, friends, music and sports. He represented Morse High in the CIF single tennis tournament. Edmund was a member of the Love 40 Tennis Club and On The Line Tennis Club. He played in the regional finals at UCLA for the One The Line Tennis Club of El Toyon National City. An avid fisherman, Edmund went on numerous deep-sea fishing trips and hauled in yellowtail, albacore, and blue fin tuna. He always kept his line taunt and hook ups wet. He participated in the Coronado Bay Bridge Run in 2011. Edmund also started bowling and was a member of USBC 2010-2011. Though a rookie in the sport, Edmund progressively improved his bowling average and participated in several bowling leagues.
Edmund was employed by the Department of the Navy (DON) as a production controller for FA-18 Fleet Readiness Center Southwest in 2001. He was hired and promoted by Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in 2009 as Equipment Specialist. He was a recipient of several outstanding performance awards from DON and DLA.
Even though his death is premature, Edmund lived his life to the fullest. Though he was quiet and reserved in demeanor, he was always loyal to his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. He was known as a cool uncle to his nephews and niece. His favorite vacation spot was Las Vegas where he enjoyed winning at video poker. Everyone who knows him will dearly miss Edmund. He is survived by his parents, Edmundo and Teresita, as well as his sister, Tracy.
