

Filomeno L. Villaluz was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Filomeno will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Filomeno was born on June 29, 1930 in Beguio City, Philippines. He was the son of Filomeno Bernardino Villaluz and Eduarda Formoso Lozano. Filomeno grew up in Manila, Philippines.
Filomeno was raised with two siblings. He had two sisters, Anita Eutropia and Maria Lourdes. Filomeno was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Filomeno had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from De La Salle College High School in 1947 - 1948. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. Filomeno enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Filomeno was able to manage the balancing act. He earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering / Lubrication Engineering from Feati University.
On August 3, 1950 Filomeno exchanged wedding vows with Araceli Reyes Isler at Our Lady of Sorrows Church Manila of Manila Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Filomeno was committed to making his new family happy.
Filomeno worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Filomeno was blessed with Five, two sons, Filomeno III and Jose Jacinto (JJ), and three daughters Marilyn, Marilou and Marivi. Another blessing for Filomeno were the gifts of seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Fortunately, Filomeno enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Filomeno worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was Marketing Consultant covering the entire Arab Gulf states. He was employed for several years by the Mobile Oil Company. Filomeno always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Filomeno enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were travel and reading. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others. Filomeno’s faith was important to him. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Though he never set out to gain individual recognition, Filomeno was given accolades for his many and varied accomplishments throughout his life. Some of his most prestigious accomplishments included (1) Pioneer of concentrating solar power electricity generation in the Philippines (2012) and (2) Architect of Mobil Oil's re-entrey into the Philippine energy Market in the 1990's.
Filomeno passed away on October 31, 2012 at Thornton Hospital - UCSD, San Diego, California. He is survived by his wife Araceli; His children: Filomeno III, Marylyn, Marilou, Marivi, Jose Jacinto; grandchildren Carlos Joseph, Ryan, Chritian Angelo, Margaret Anne, Eunice Fatima, Felissa Lourdes, Mariel Rio; great grandchildren Monica Clare, Gavin Levi. Services were held at Glen Abbey in Bonita, California. Filomeno was laid to rest in the Philippines.
Simply stated, Filomeno was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Filomeno leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Filomeno L. Villaluz.
