

Frances also suffered from Alzheimer’s for many years and was a resident of Oakdale Heights of La Mesa memory care unit for over 3 years. .She was lovely known as Fran by all her friends.
Frances could not wait to go “Home” to be with her beloved husband Joseph (Joe) of 33 years and be with our good Lord.
Frances and Joseph (Joe) were married on Jun 3, 1944 at the Army Air Force base in Casper, WY. Joseph preceded her in death in December of 1977.
Frances was born to parents Frank L. Williams and Euna K. Coleman of VA. Her father played the Banjo and her mother taught piano. She had three sisters who also played musical instruments. Her father gave her a violin when she was very young and she learned to play it and she also played the organ.
After graduating from high school, Frances went to work at JC Penny’s in Roanoke, VA where she met and married her first husband James W. Spires of Norfolk, VA. Together they had a daughter Joyce A. Johnson (husband Johnny) and a son James W. Spires, Jr.
While living in Norfolk, she went to work at the Naval Ship Yard. After James sr. passed away, she re-married Joseph and moved to OH where she owned an Upholster shop in the late 1940’s.
After arriving in the San Diego area in 1948, Fran went to work for Rohr Aircraft Plant in Chula Vista as an Air Craft Mechanic from 1948 to mid 1957.
France also taught Catechism classes in the early 1950’s at Saint Rose of Lima School in Chula Vista. She also loved to paint and taught oil and watercolor classes to Senior Citizens in Chula Vista. She also tried to teach her grandchildren to paint.
After her husband passed away, Frances bought a large motor home and toured the US, Mexico and Canada by herself for 10 years. She was very creative a made a life size doll named “Suzy” as her traveling companion.
Frances was a woman of many talents and could be seem doing arts and crafts and she loved to sew and did tailoring as a past time. She had her own “shop smith” and could build and fix anything. Frances took a class at Balboa Hospital and became a Candy Stripper in the 1960’s. She loved to help people. She also took a semester in architecture at Southwestern Night College in Chula Vista.
Funeral Services will be held at Glen Abbey Memorial park located in Bonita on January 10, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Roses. She will be interned in a Crypt located at AAA Von Brom Court Bay 5. She and Joseph were married in the Chapel of Roses and she will have her services in the Chapel of Roses as were Joseph's years ago. The pallbearers will be her Grandsons. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or to Hospice.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Oakdale Heights and to Vitas Hospice for their dedication and loving care they took taking care of our Mother.
Frances is survived by her daughter Joyce A. Johnson and son James W. Spires, 14 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 11 Great-Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Great Grandchildren.
