Mother, Sister, Daughter, Friend, Divine Messenger
“The Greatest Love and Personal Empowerment Story Ever Told”
It is with great sadness for our physical loss and in celebration of a life fully lived that we
announce the passing of our beloved Gaya Jenkins, who died of natural causes on June 25,
2018 in her home in Carlsbad, CA at the age of 74. Gaya was born Gaye Lynne Comeaux on
December 11, 1943 in New Orleans, LA, to Joseph Earl Comeaux and Marjory Rose Federico.
She is survived by: her children, Kimberly Jeanne Jenkins (StarShineStar), Jennifer Jenkins,
Julie (Jules) Jenkins, Mark R. Jenkins III (Ramakrishna RK), Miguel Ruiz Jr, Jose Luis Ruiz, and
Leonardo Ruiz; two beloved former husbands, Mark Roy Jenkins II M.D. and Miguel Angel Ruiz;
a sister, Joyce Lynne (Joya) Comeaux; beloved grandchildren Adi Jenkins, Alejandro Ruiz,
Audrey Ruiz, and Julius Ruiz; beloved daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many
other devoted friends and family that loved her dearly and will miss her madly, many of whom
respectfully refer to her as Mama Gaya, and Madame in India.
Mama Gaya in life and death is making a difference to us all as our beloved spiritual
teacher who shared her life’s inner quest for soul awakening and lessons learned as a
Divine Messenger of Joy, Compassion, Self-Healing, Non-Judgement and Unconditional
LOVE.
As a child growing up between New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, Gaya spent a lot of time contemplating life. She was often melancholy, used to cry a lot, so they called her Mona Lisa. As a teenager, she was serious and driven, knew exactly what she wanted from life, and was determined to get it.
She was always a leader respected by family and peers. In her teens Gaya’s desires were to become a model, marry a good man and provider, and have children. And that’s just what she did.
After marrying Dr. Mark R Jenkins II, having three daughters and one son, the Jenkins family moved to Southern California. Their first home was in Bonita, CA, where Gaya loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was physically active and loved sports. She played tennis, skiing (snow and water), scuba diving, and bicycling—all with her style of not trying to compete, just loving the experience.
Gaya was also successful in business. Her first career was in real estate and later she started her own business that placed people in jobs. She excelled at whatever she put her mind to.
After some years Gaya developed atrial fibrillation. She often said it was her heart that pulled her into spirituality because her love of spiritual growth and teachings grew from her search to heal her heart, first allopathic then eventually spiritual healing. Her search for spiritual healers introduced her to her life long passion — God. She had always loved god but was not religious. She traveled to exotic places around the world to work with spiritual masters, such as Swami Premananda, Shamans in Peru, in pursuit of healing her debilitating heart condition. Through this intense journey she found a psychic healer in San Diego itself, Madre Sarita, a curandera from Mexico. Madre Sarita introduced Gaya to her son, Dr. Don Miguel Angel Ruiz.
The moment Gaya and Miguel’s eyes met, they remembered many past lives together as eternal soul mates. Gaya and Miguel started a new life journey that led to Gaya’s awakening and remembering her true nature. She loved and cared for Don Miguel’s family as her own.
Gaya and Don Miguel lived and worked together for many years and during this time Gaya met other spiritual masters, such as Swami Premananda, Sri Sai Kaleshwar Swami, and Shirdi Sai Baba.
In 1997 she moved to India to work more deeply with Sri Kaleshwar and stayed in India until his passing in 2012, after which she moved back to California. During this time she somehow managed to start a successful travel business while living in Bangalore, despite being a single, foreign, woman. This is a testament to her determination, focus, and belief that anything is possible.
Just after moving back from India Gaya obtained her life’s goal, a deep realization of the perfection of life. She lived the rest of her life as a messenger and mirror of higher consciousness of the Divine.
Anyone who was in pain and suffering received solace from Gaya. She had always lived this way, taking care of stray animals in India, feeding the poor, and supporting those who needed help. So many have been uplifted spiritually, emotionally, and even physically by her incredible motherly love. It is her only wish for others to realize life’s journey as a chance to discover their own divinity and purpose, and with the help of their beloved Mama Gaya many have.
She will be missed, and the force of her unconditional love shall remain shining brightly in our hearts as a beacon for awakening to both our human and divine potential.
With eternal love, WE LAY WHITE ROSES AT HER FEET, and return her back to the Divine, grateful for the incredible blessings she shared and the message that was her life.
