

Lt. Colonel, USAF
George was born June 30, 1919 in Chicago, IL. While attending Pre Med School, he decided to volunteer for active duty under the Selective Service Act and was assigned to Ft. Lewis, WA. He was accepted to Officer’s Training School and graduated as a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corp.
After a brief school assignment, he was assigned to the Wright Field Procurement Depot in Dayton, Ohio, where he met and married Jane who was working for Civil Service at Wright Field. They were married at the Air Force Chapel there on April 1, 1944.
His first overseas assignment was in 1950 as Director of Materiel with the 437th Troop carrier wing in Japan. He then became part of General Tunner’s Combat Cargo Command. Their primary mission was supply and evacuation. He was returned to the USA for hospitalization due to a spinal injury. Upon leaving the hospital in Atlanta, he was assigned to O’Hare Air Force Base in Chicago with the 4706 Defense Wing as Group Supply Officer for the 141st Fighter Group. George and Jane had one son, Michael, who was born in Chicago June 24, 1947.
He later became Post Exchange Officer at O’Hare Field and upon completion of his duty there was sent to London, England with the 7480th Special Activities Squadron. His assignment there was Liaison Officer to all exchanges all over Europe which encompassed considerable travel. After a period of time, he requested separation and was returned to USA and given Part 1 Mobilization assignment with Specialized Procurement District at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio. He held this position until he retired in 1980 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
After leaving the Air Force, George worked for the Dean Food Company and became the Vice President of Sales for the State of Wisconsin. In 1985 George and Jane moved to Bonita, CA so they could see their three grandchildren grow up. George worked for the Nestle Company for a while, and became a member of MOAA, and a Senior Patrol Officer.
SCHOOLS ATTENDED: Graduate of Air Command and Staff College and National Security Seminar of Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
MEDALS: American Campaign Medal, American Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, Japanese Occupation Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Citation, United Nations Medal, National Defense Medal, Air Force Reserve Medal.
