Gloria Sangco Coronado

Gloria Sangco Coronado of National City, CA passed away peacefully on Sat 3/19/22. Born on 11/13/35, the sixth of nine siblings, she was 86 when she was called to be with the Lord and her husband Rogie Coronado.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Maria Lourdes Coronado Bayer, Maria Felisa Coronado Defante and Rogie Coronado Jr (Joe). Son-in-laws: Ken Bayer and Alex Defante. Grandchildren: Kelsey Bayer, Cole Bayer, Andrew Defante, and Matthew Defante. Younger sister: Adeling Aguilar and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews in the Philippines, Canada and US.

In 1968, at the age of 32, Gloria left the Philippines with their 3 yr old and 6 month old baby, to join husband Rogie Coronado in Seattle, WA. One year later, their youngest, Joe, was born. Rogie's work took the family from Washington to Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and finally San Diego, CA.

Though Gloria remained at home when the children were younger, she blossomed in her own right given her gifted abilities and skills. She was an accomplished and talented seamstress who could bring beautiful wedding gowns to life just from pictures brides would provide her. She was also a dedicated cake baker, making incredible wedding and birthday cakes from scratch for a loyal list of customers in Indiana, Kentucky, and California.

Once the children were older, she joined the workforce as an accounting clerk at Sears in Chicago, IL and Louisville, KY and later worked and retired from Powersonic in San Diego, CA.

Gloria was initially diagnosed with Dementia in Aug 2018. Though the progression was slow at first, it started to impact her normal daily activities by 2020 with the significant decline beginning Nov 2021. By that point, Gloria was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's.

Thus, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fischer Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation https://www.alzinfo.org/ in the hopes that one day, a cure could be found to prevent this long and hurtful journey from happening to other families. It's extremely painful to see your loved one forget events and people through the years but it was also just as equally painful to know you had been forgotten.
