James Clifford Brown

James "Jim" Clifford Brown, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on December 3rd, 2020. Jim was born on December 12, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia to Clarence Fletcher Brown and Mildred Elizabeth Brown. Growing up a military brat, Jim spent time in Georgia, Virginia, Washington and California.

Jim served his beloved country as an United States Navy Aviation Ordnanceman from 1967-1971. Jim was a Vietnam Veteran. He served aboard (CVS-38) USS Shangri-La, an anti-submarine carrier, and was attached to the F-8 Crusader squadron VF-111 "Sundowners" as well as NAS El Centro and NAS Miramar. After his military service, Jim returned to Rohr Industries where he worked in mechanical and airline innovation for a total of 35 years.

Jim found and married the love of his life, Wilma Francine Hammons on March 21, 1970. Together they raised two daughters Debbie and Dawn Leanne, and a son, Jim Jr..

Jim was an adventurous man who loved car racing, boat racing, road racing, off-road racing, dirt track racing, air racing and pretty much all types of racing. Jim was a master mechanic, carpenter, and woodworker. He also had a passion for the outdoors which he graciously shared with his children and grandchildren through many camping, fishing, gold mining and Jeeping trips. Jim was happiest when he was spending time with his beloved family and cherished pets.

Jim loved the Lord, his country, his family, his friends and his community. When not working on projects for himself or his wife, Jim graciously donated time to family, friends, neighbors, non-profit groups and just about anyone who needed help on a project or event. Jim enjoyed working with his hands and anything that brought joy to others. Jim was a proud American.

Jim is survived by his wife, Francine; daughters, Debbie (Tom) and Dawn Leanne; son, Jim Jr. (Kim); sisters Joan and Betty (Al); brother, Wayne; grandchildren Tommy (Molly), Kryssa, Trysha, Kristopher and Matthew; great granddaughter, Kiley. Jim will be buried at Glen Abbey Memorial Park on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020.
