On July 25, 2023, Joan Barbara Roseman, age 97, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.
Born on May 17, 1926, in Long Island, New York, Joan was the daughter of Margaret Suess and John Schneider. It was during a family vacation at Maplewood Lodge in Pennsylvania in 1939 that she crossed paths with the love of her life, Frank. Joan married Frank in July 1945.
Joan's passion for caring for others led her to pursue a nursing career, and she graduated from Adelphi Nursing School before enlisting in the United States Army Nurse Corps. She dedicated herself as a bedside nurse until she and Frank relocated to Chula Vista in 1957. There, she continued her noble profession, serving as a school nurse at various South Bay elementary schools until her retirement in 1981.
Throughout her life, Joan was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She had a special fondness for working with children and found joy in knitting hats for babies born in local hospitals. Joan was also an active volunteer, generously giving her time to the Chula Vista Library. She served as the board president of the Chula Vista Friends of the Library, contributing her expertise and caring nature.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank and son Todd. She is survived by daughters Ann and Beth, grandchildren Denise, Nancy, Amy, and Kotaro, and great-grandchildren Dr. Alexis D., Daniel, Michael, Hunter, Mia and Maria. She leaves behind many cherished family members and friends, all of whom will forever hold her in their hearts.
A committal service for Joan will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California 91902.
