Lilly Lee was a modest woman, quiet and observant in her ways. She was trustworthy and traditional in her approach to her life and in her relationships. She was tough-minded woman who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything she undertook. Realistic about life, she was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
She was the daughter of Viola and Harold D. McGraw. Lilly was raised with two siblings. She had one sister, Ruby McGraw, and one brother, H. L. Eugene "Bud" McGraw. Lilly was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Lilly had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Glen Lyn High School in 1942. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
In 1947 she married James Maurice Lee in Yuma Arizona. Empathic and loyal, Lilly was committed to making her new family happy. Lilly worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Lilly was blessed with three children, Jimee, Betty and Melinda.
Fortunately, Lilly enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Lilly worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was in food preperation. She was employed at the Hillcrest Receiving Home for 15 years. She was also active in Church, teaching both preschool and Sunday School. Lilly always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Lilly passed away on October 25, 2010 at her home in Spring Valley, California of natural causes. She is survived by her children Jimee, Betty and Melinda; her son-in-laws Michael and Bruce; her granddaughters Amanda and Hannah; her nieces Marykay and Melissa; her great-nephews Jeremy and Richard; great-niece Carissa and her brother Eugene "Bud" McGraw. Services were held at The Little Chapel of the Roses. Lilly was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park.
Simply stated, Lilly was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Lilly leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Lilly Lee.
