Luzvimindo Ternate Laurino – devoted and dedicated husband, father of four, grandfather of four – passed away on May 1, 2024 at the age of 86. He was born to parents Alfredo and Aquilina Laurino in Manila, Phillipines. He was the oldest of four siblings and known fondly as Lobeng. His family has lived in multiple regions of the Philippines, starting in Otis, Paco, next Pandacan, and Saturno.
In 1965 Luzvimindo took Beatriz Fonacier’s hand in marriage. They moved to San Diego, CA in 1971 in which they spent just shy of 59 years of marriage together and lovingly raised their family in National City, CA. Luzvimindo was preceded in death by his daughter Ludivina who passed away in 2014. He is survived by his loving wife Beatriz and three children Myra, Ramil, and Ronnie and four grandchildren - Adeline and Evan to Ramil and Christine, and Justeen and Isaiah to Ronnie and Alana.
Luzvimindo was a devoted husband, father, and papa, motivated to provide for his family with a better life in America. He was also a proud Navy man, known as "Larry" to his shipmates during his Navy career. He proudly dedicated 20 years to serve the US Navy. Once honorably discharged from his tenure in the Navy, he worked another 15 years for the Grossmont Union School District in their supply chain. In his early years, Luzvimindo loved his hobbies of playing basketball or mahjong with friends. In his later years, after finally retiring, he sustained his interest in knowledge by building his history book collection or watching Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune with Beatriz. His family will miss him dearly but he will forever live in their hearts.
A visitation for Luzvimindo will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Glen Abbey Mortuary's Magnolia Room, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California 91902. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 426 E 7th St, National City, California 91950. A committal service will occur Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Rd, Bonita, California 91902. A reception will occur Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Glen Abbey Mortuary's Orchid Pavilion, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California 91902.
