Maria Soledad married Jose Ortiz when she was 20 years old. They immigrated to the U. S. in 1956 and made their home in San Ysidro, California. Maria Soledad worked many years for Foodmaker Company. Most recently, she owned and managed The Ortiz Market, a grocery store in Escondido, California for 20 years. She loved gardening. She was a devout Catholic and very active in her parish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. In her youth, she belonged to the Order of Carmelites and in her adulthood, was a “Guadalupana”.
Maria Soledad was a very kind and generous person. She led by example. After her husband passed away in 1968, she found the strength and courage to support her family.
She leaves a brother Ignacio, five children and their spouses: Rosario and Vincent C. de Baca, Maria Concepción and Hadi Badrakhan, Jose, Elena, Carmen and Jon Morrissey also eleven grandchildren: Angelina, Sarah, Andres, Marco, Yezdan, Yara, Juan José, Vicente and Jarah Euston, Esteban, Emilia, Jesus, and one granddaughter, Beatrice.
