
Born in San Diego to Leonard and Connie Martinez, Esther graduated from San Diego High School, obtained a degree in Education from San Diego State University and a Master's Degree in Bilingual Education from United States International University in San Diego and London, England.
Esther was an Elementary teacher for San Diego Unified for 30 years, spending 15 years at Rolando Park Elementary. Fluent in Spanish, she taught English as a Second Language (ESL). She was pleased when former students would bring their children and insist they be enrolled in, "Mrs. Q's" class.
Beautiful and full of life, she was a skier, a certified SCUBA diver and world traveler. She was a prolific and award-winning quilter.
She was a Christian and faithfully served the Lord. She was ready to leave this beautiful and full life and move onward to her Heavenly Home.
She was a beautiful Latina, who embraced her culture and heritage.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Michael, daughter Rebecca, son in law Matthew, her cherished grandchildren Noah and Zoe, four brothers and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Michael and sisters, Cecilia and Eva.
Esther had love in her heart and a smile for everyone. She will be missed, and loved forever.
