He is survived by his son Matthew Ryan Lara, Jr., mother Joyce Lara, sister Christina Ly, and grandmother Purita Eucker.
Matthew graduated from the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. He was an avid musician who play the trumpet, piano and guitar. He was also a member of a mariachi band. Matthew loved bowling, he was also an outdoorsman who loved to go camping, hiking and fishing. He completed the Arizona National Scenic Trail in 2021, an 800-mile hike from the U.S. Mexico border to Utah. While hiking he went by the trail name "Bullet".
Matthew's greatest accomplishment and joy was his five-year-old son, Jr. He loved his son with all his heart. He was an amazing friend and loved to make everyone laugh. His bright soul will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
