Maurice Alfred Esclania Kennedy Allen, 74, peacefully passed away in San Diego, California on April 16, 2021. Born in San Joaquin, Iloilo in the Philippines on November 12, 1946, Maurice was the youngest of three children to Adela Esclania and John Dixon Kennedy Allen as well as a beloved brother to his sister, Catherine Kennedy Subang.
Maurice led an adventurous and fulfilling life. As a graduate of the Iloilo Maritime Academy, Maurice became a seaman and quickly rose the ranks to Chief Mate, and at times acting Captain, transporting imports and exports worldwide. Maurice’s love for his work, and the sea, led him to travel to amazing locations in Africa, Asia, South America, and Europe. It was not too long after his successful career that Maurice found another great love.
In October 23, 1976 Maurice married the love of his life, Teresita Escullar. The happy couple later welcomed their first and only child, Connie, in December of 1978. In the hopes of providing a better life for his family, they moved to the United States from the Philippines in the early 1980s.
Although soft spoken at times, Maurice’s great sense of humor always brought laughter to those close to him. Often described as a kind, intelligent, patient, and caring man, Maurice was also a Catholic with a strong sense of faith, and an immense devotion to his family. Maurice will forever be remembered in the hearts of all those who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Maurice is survived by his wife, Teresita, daughter, Connie, and their dog, George.
