Later in life, Melitona exchanged wedding vows with her sweetheart Bruno Dimaano. They were blessed with a family that she was fortunate enough to take care of from home. She was later given another blessing, the gift of grandchildren.
Sadly, Melitona passed away on January 18, 2011 at Scripps Mercy Hospital due to a brain aneurysm. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Erlinda Dimaano, Romeo Dimaano and his wife, Manolito Dimaano and his wife, Godofredo Dimaano and his wife, Helen Aoanan and her husband, Amor Dimaano and her husband, Sem Dimaano and his wife; and her brother Eduardo Recinto. Services were held at Saint Michaels Catholic Church on January 29, 2011. Melitona was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Melitona leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Melitona Recinto Dimaano.
