Well, Uncle Mel, still can't believe you're gone.  A man of few words, you reminded me so much of my Dad.  We lived on opposite sides of the US but am so grateful for the times I was able to come visit.  I'll have an extra piece of cake for you every year on our birthday.  I love you.

Many fond memories of Mel and his family starting with boot camp at MCRD in 1965 and being stationed together at El Toro afterwards (with many trips back and forth in my little VW); our continuing friendship afterwards including a trip to Las Vegas (in my now new VW) where I witnessed he and Marty wed; his later participation in our wedding (he actually wore a tux); and our several family vacations with Mel, Marty, Michelle, Marci and "Cinnamon" (the ice chest pretend horse). I will miss you my friend....

Mel, my best friend, We will all miss you. He is the most wonderful person I have ever met. I've worked with Mel for just under 20 years.  We created "Mark and Mel's Magic Shop", knowen for fixing the unfixable.  Mel was always on top of it, you would never have to ask twice.  He would do anything for you.  We had a lot of common interests, we would share our weekend projects, and he always made Mondays fun.  Mel will be missed by all who has crossed his path.  Things I learned from Mel will be deeply cherished; it has been an extreme honor to have knowen him and to be able to call him my friend.  His memory will always remain in my heart.

We will all go forward with our experiences that Mel has given us, they will help make us stronger to overcome our obstacles.  We will all miss him.

My prayers our with you and your family. I had the privilege to work with Mel for three to four years. Even though I am older I learned a lot from Mel. Even though it was long ago, it still feels like yesterday my friend.

If you looked in a dictionary under husband or father, you would see a picture of Mel.        Mel was a definition of what a husband and father should be, it was rare.  He always shared he's wisdom with you and insight. He would help you,(even if he was doing something).Help you figure it out or help you fix it. Never complain about. He would really help you if you brought something sweet. Fudge was he's favorite.   I had the privilege to be part of Young family. I was honored to know Mel for along time. He help shape my son Joseph to the man he is today. THANK YOU.  But what i remember the most about Mel, he was the happiness when he was with family. I want to THANK Michelle and Marcy for sharing our dad with me.  I will truly miss you and your words of wisdom.                                       One weekend Mel and Marty was watching Joey for me. Well when i pull up, i see Mel bending over a car he was working on, and of course you could see Mel butt crack, well i walk over and there was my son pulling he' pant down so he could be just like Mel. Joey never ate potato chip unless he was with him.                          So THANKS for the memories.

Our thoughts and prayers are for Mel's wife, Marty, daughters, Michelle and Marcy and his two loving grand-daughters Sidney and Mya. 
Mel touched the heart and soul of many during his lifetime. I will miss my brother-in-law, no my "Big Brother", my "Go-To" guy, who always fixed any obsticle I encountered.

Marty I wish you and the girls many prayers and love during your time of grief.  I have many fond memories of "Mr. Mel" of course the biggest and fondest memory was that he always did the kids pictures.  I loved when he dropped you off and the dog was in the car he'd wait for someone to get there then wave to me as he drove away. And at work when we would all sit around and talk about how wonderful our husbands are (wink wink) but they really are and you knew it.   You are so lucky to have so many loving people surrounding you and the girls during your time of need.  I know Mel is at that big computer (the latest greatest of course) in the sky on Skype keeping watch over you.  my thoughts and prayers are with you love julie

Paula and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know exactly what your going through. Words don't always help. Just keep the memories alive.

Mel was like a big brother to me beginning in 1957.  Paula and I would head to their house after school.  When I stayed too late in the afternoon, Mel would be asked to take me on the back of his bike to the main street.  He one time told me "you should stay home and quit coming over".  Paula and I had other ideas and Mel remained nice to me. I did get myself home before their Mom could ask him to assist from then on. Mel will be missed.  Stay strong and know he is with family.

Mel, I know that growing up as little kids we fought like cats and dogs. But as we grew up, you were my big brother, my protector, and the one that I could always count on for anything. It's hard to believe that you are gone now. So sudden...I pray that you are safe and happy. Memories of you are locked in my heart and soul. I KNOW that you are still watching over us. I know that Mom and Dad were there to greet you. Tell them "I'll see them when I see them." I love you

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
