Nenita N. Carlos

Nenita Nieves Carlos was born on July 18, 1942 in Santa Cruz, Zambales to Gualberto and Lourdes Nieves. She attended elementary and high school in Santa Cruz. After high school she decided to go to St. Louis University in Baguio where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She then returned to Santa Cruz to teach. She taught elementary school for a few years.

On Nov. 16, 1968 she married Eduardo Carlos a Navy man. On Oct. 16, 1970 she was blessed with a daughter, Dulce. They lived in the Philippines for the next 2 years, till they moved to Guam.

To add to her growing family, her son Edward was born on July 1, 1972.

After living in Guam the family moved to Vallejo, California in 1975. Nenita enjoyed being a housewife, and dedicated her time caring for her family.

In 1976 Eduardo was stationed in San Diego, CA. This would be the city the family would call home for the next 39 years.

Nenita worked various jobs till she found a job she really enjoyed. She worked at General Dynamics for many years. She made so wonderful friends there.

Her children, Dulce and Edward both graduated from San Diego State University and are currently teachers. Dulce teaches Kindergarten and Edward teaches 4th grade.

At the ripe age of 50 she decided she wanted to retire and dedicate her time to raising her first grandchild, Amy. Amy was blessed to have been raised by her grandmother for the first 10 years of her life. Three more wonderful grandchildren would follow; Eric, Janessa, and Joshua. She loved being a mother, but was most happy being a grandmother.

She always found time to travel with her family. She visited so many places: Holy Land, Denmark, Switzerland, England, Portugal, Greece, Hawaii, Alaska, Philippines, Singapore, Bangkok, China, Hong Kong, Russia, Mexico, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Nenita was a devoted Catholic that attended mass daily. She loved to cook, garden, and exercise. She was an avid reader.

Nenita is survived by her husband, two children, 4 grandchildren, 1 sister, and 3 brothers.
