She was born as Purificacion Librado on May 26, 1940 to Santos Librado Sr. and Leona Cueto. Although she was born in Manila, Philippines, she was raised in Olongapo City where she came to be better known as Nerie Librado. She was the second born among her brothers and sisters; Romualdo, Redencion(deceased), Purita(deceased), Santos, Ricardo, Andres, Orlando, and Olivia. She remained in the household, where she took a part in taking care of her younger siblings. At 21, she started working at the U.S. Naval Base in Subic Bay. It was here where Nerie met Diosdado Dacurro. They fell in love and married on December 27, 1965. They would have two children; Dorothy, born on July 30th, 1967 and Dennis, born on April 3, 1972. She and Diosdado continued working at the Naval Base while raising their family together in the hopes of providing them with a good life. Due to her hard work and exemplary performance, she received many awards, which gave her the opportunity to migrate to the United States.
In 1988, Nerie arrived in California with her family. She continued to work exceedingly hard to establish a new foothold for her expanding family, which now included grandchildren. Besides being an excellent worker, she was regarded by her family as a wonderful source of love and care. Nerie retired in 2002 to focus on taking care of her husband Diosdado and support her two children and their families. Her six grandchildren; Desiree, Dustin, Denise, Danielle, Dylan, and Dana would benefit highly from her love and dedication to her family and loved ones.
In January 2010, she was diagnosed with Leukemia but did not allow this to stop her from doing what she did best. Although she was sick, her faith in God and her own personal strength allowed her to persevere. She never lost hope and Nerie never allowed her sickness to dictate how she lived her life. She was the type of woman who found great joy by simply providing whatever she felt anybody from her family needed, be it a favorite meal, advice or life lessons and guidance that she could share with her children and grandchildren. She provided unconditional love and was always supportive. Nerie never missed an opportunity to share her love to family and friends.
On December 8th, 2012 at 4:30 AM, Nerie lost her fight. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones and is survived by her husband Diosdado, her daughter Dorothy and husband Ramil, her son Dennis, her grandchildren Desiree, Dustin, Denise, Danielle, Dylan and Dana, and her siblings Romualdo, Santos and wife Grace, Ricardo and wife Marylou, Andres and wife Melissa, Orlando, and Olivia.
She made our house a HOME because she filled it with love and care. A great wife, mom, sister, friend, and grandma that anybody could have ever had.
