

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Nieves Posadas Mendoza was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Nieves will be remembered as a very exceptional person. Nieves’s life journey began on October 29, 1929. She first greeted the world in San Carlos, Pangasinan, Philippines. Her parents' names were Juan Posadas and Pelagia Alcantara Posadas. She was raised with 4 siblings, Domingo, Cresencia, Rosing and Jaime. Nieves was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her family sharing many life experiences over the years. Nieves was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Rural High School in 1944. She later continued her education by attending Far Eastern University where she earned her B.A. in Education in 1948. Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Nieves experienced that with Teofilo Mendoza and the couple exchanged wedding vows on February 12, 1952. The wedding took place in St. Charles Church in San Carlos Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Nieves was committed to making her new family happy. While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Nieves was blessed with 5 children, Teofilo Jr., John Michael, Stephen, Ricky and Alexander. Nieves worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs, raising her children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Nieves was blessed with the gift of 3 grandchildren, Madeleine, Steven and Seraph. How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Nieves enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Nieves worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her occupation. Nieves worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for 27 years. Nieves Posadas Mendoza left us on November 20, 2011. She passed away at home in Bonita, California. She was 82 years old. She is survived by her husband Teofilo, her children Teofilo Jr., Rowena (daughter-in-law), John Michael, Stephen, Ricky, Farah (daughter-in-law) and Alexander, her grandchildren Madeleine, Steven and Seraph. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A funeral mass was held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Chula Vista, California on Saturday, November 26, 2011. Nieves was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California. Simply stated, Nieves was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Nieves leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Nieves touched will always remember her with a smile.
