

Patria “Patty” Saavedra Cabantac, 66, passed away while holding her husband’s hand on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at her home in Chula Vista, California. She was the loyal wife of Demetrio Cabantac Jr. and the beloved mother of Trisha and Lauren Cabantac.
Patria was born on July 4, 1958 in Catbalogan, Samar, Philippines. She graduated from Velez College in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in nursing and immigrated to the United States in 1983. She lived in New York and then Hawaii for several years before settling down in San Diego, California. She worked as a dedicated registered nurse for over 40 years, specializing in pediatrics and neonatal care. Her hobbies included traveling throughout Europe, decorating her cozy home, shopping for purses, and spending quality time with her family.
Patria is survived by her husband, Demetrio; her two daughters, Trisha and Lauren; and siblings Vilma and Efren Saavedra. She is preceded in death by her parents, Patricio and Efrena Saavedra, and her youngest brother, Erwin Saavedra.
Patria was steadfast in her values, honest in her words, and deeply devoted to those she cared about most. She wholeheartedly provided support to her family in the Philippines. With her strong sense of community, she made countless life-long friendships and maintained deep relationships with both her immediate and extended family. These characteristics – plus her strong, independent spirit – made her a cherished friend and relative to those who knew her.
Friends and family are invited to her evening visitation on Monday, June 23rd from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary in Bonita, California. Her funeral service will be held on the following day, Tuesday, June 24th at 11:30 AM at Mater Dei Catholic Church in Chula Vista, California. This will be followed by the committal service on Tuesday, June 24th at 1:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in San Diego, California.
