

Purita Dungca Cagaanan, known as Sister Puring to many for being an active member of the O.C.D.S. Community and a lector and Eucharistic minister at St Michael Church, has left this life to join her Creator on August 7, 2025 at the age of 86. A cherished mother, aunt and grandmother, devoted friend and educator, her presence enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Born on March 4, 1939, she was the seventh child of Dionisia and Julio Dungca's 10 children consisting of 7 girls and 3 boys. Being the fourth youngest, she got away from the household chores and enjoyed playing with her younger siblings. She excelled in academics and was a good folk dancer. She graduated with honors and was able to start to work as a teacher at an early age. It was her dream profession and passion. From being a classroom teacher, she was promoted to school principal until she became the Division 3 District English supervisor in Angeles City. A job she enjoyed as she got to travel to different places in the Philippines to accompany students in both public and private schools in competitions representing Region 3.
Married Pedro Cagaanan when she was 27 years old. They stayed together for 54 years until his passing in May 2020. She was preceded by her only son Perico in August 2023. Survived by her only daughter Pamela, she nicknamed Pinky, three grandsons Paolo, Lance and Sebastian, two granddaughters Isabella and Tricia, son and daughter in-law Raschid and Magnolia.
Her viewing will be on August 29, 2025 from 5 pm to 9 pm at the Chapel of the Roses in Glen Abbey - 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita California 91902
Interment will be on August 30, 2025 at 11:30 am in Glen Abbey following the funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Michael Church - 2643 Homedale Street, San Diego CA 92139
Reception for family and friends will be at the Orchid Pavilion within the Glen Abbey premises right after the burial.
