

Ramona Elaine (Nebel) Travis passed away July 29, 2014 from a sudden illness. She was born in Aurora, IL on Sept. 20, 1950 to F. Ronald and Rachel Nebel, the first of six children. She attended East Aurora High School graduating in 1968 and Waubonsee Community College graduating with an Associates degree in 1970. She married Randy Travis in 1976 and lived in Aurora, IL until shortly after Randy’s passing in 1981. She moved to San Diego, CA in 1982 and has lived there since that time. She worked at Rady Children’s Hospital until the time of her passing for a total of 32 years. During that time, she attained her Master’s degree in Information Systems and was a Clinical Systems Informaticist for Rady.
She was active for many years in Church of His Kingdom, she enjoyed writing and coproducing plays with the church. She was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed coaching men’s softball teams for many years. She was a musician and played many instruments. She loved gardening and learning how to prepare healthy foods. She used the internet to keep in contact with many friends across the globe and keep up with her growing family members.
Ramona was a loving person, always lending support to those in need throughout her network of friends across the globe. She was a mentor to many and will always be remembered by her helping personality and beautiful smile.
She is survived by three brothers, Terry (Linda) Nebel, Todd (Jana) Nebel, and Tim (Jennifer) Nebel, two sisters, Razena Unwin and Rhonda Paustian, several nieces, Crystal (Jerry) Oksas, Carianne Paustian, Amanda and Kaytlin Nebel, Niki Heller and Heidi Guist, several nephews, Crispin, Chase (Tanya), Chad (Renee) Paustian, Cody Nebel and Adam Nebel and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Randy Travis and her parents, F. Ronald and Rachel Nebel.
Visitation will be at Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 5-9 pm at Glen Abbey Mortuary with the funeral services on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to the Miracle League of San Diego (http://miracleleagueofsandiego.org). The Miracle League of San Diego provides children with special needs the opportunity to play baseball in an organized league.
