Your father and I worked together on the F-4 Phantom and F-14 Tomcat at North Island.  He was truly liked by all who worked with him. He was a good and dependable artisan. Looking for a tool on my garage pegboard this week, I found the bobber and fishing lure that was given out at his NI retirement.  Your father was a good man and friend, who will be missed by all. 

I have so many fond memories of Ninong Carding. One of the many favorites, is that every time my mom, dad and I would visit, which was often, Ninong Carding would always have food and sweets for me to eat. I don't remember the food but I do remember the desserts: sago, ice cream, popsicles... He always had food, a giant smile and a hug waiting every visit. When we slept over, I loved waking to the smell of Filipino breakfast that Ninong and Ninang cooked. He always made sure our bellies were full and the time spent together was joyous. He was like another dad to me. Zinnia, Rina and Rainier treated me like their little sister and I couldn't be more thankful to have spent so much of my childhood with all of them.

I remember playing in the backyard of the house in Coronado. I have a specific photo of he and I in mind but can't find. I was maybe 2 or 3 years old and he had me on his shoulders in the back yard next to one of the citrus trees. We both had smiles ear to ear. I loved that he was always so happy.

I am very fortunate to work with the same Employer as Dad, at FRCSW North Island (formerly NAS North Island).  Dad and I never had the opportunity to work with each other, but I was blessed to work with many of his buddies.  They opened my eyes wider and wider through the years only to realize he was beyond being a father.  He was a great friend to many people and a very well respected and accomplished Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic over twenty years, for the F-4, F-14, S-3, Helos, and F/A-18  platforms.  Seeing him under a different light redefined my perspective of him and redefined my path in life.  Thank you Dad for recommending FRCSW North Island as my career path.

Your dad was a good friend and very talented artisan. I had the pleasure of working with him as partners on both the F-14 & S-3s. He was also a friend of the family. When he was an usher at St. Charles in IB, he would always come up to greet us & would hold my son.
  It was an honor to have know your father, my family is blessed to have know him.. We are very sorry for your loss and he'll always be in our prayers.

     Ka Carding you’re one terrific guy ! When the Lord calls our loved ones home , He leaves a gift of memories in exchange , like when I was stationed in USS Kitty Hawk I got in touch with Ka Carding and we always end up in a dancing place at EM Club in 32nd Street San Diego . Ka Carding is a very good dancer he can dance all night nonstop he he . Ka Carding became my Big Brother and a great one too . He always lend a helping hand most specially when my arm caught on fire while fixing our car in a Murphy Canyon Navy Housing garage . We’ll never forget you Ka Carding Rest In Peace 🙏🙏🙏

Our memories of you beloved " balae " will  linger in our hearts forever. Since we became family connected  through our  loving children (Rainier and Jennifer), we shared time meeting  on occasions,  went clamming in North Island and eating  out almost every year and at the same time  exchanging  jokes and never ending  stories.  All of this will  be cherished. 
Our heartfelt sympathy to balae Zeny and  to the whole  family. May our dear Lord give you the comfort  and peace that you seek. May the soul of balae Ric rest in peace. Our prayers are with you.  God bless us all.

I’m Joseph Bernardo, son of an elder brother of Tio Carding... I only have good memories of Tio Carding,  and as far as I am concerned, I remember him as a revered Uncle, Navy Officer and a Gentleman...

My family and I mourn with tia Naida, Rinna, Zinnia, and Rainier, and their respective families, in the loss of our beloved tio Carding. Tio Carding was the last one on this earth among his siblings that included my father, but he has now left us too to join his parents and brothers and sisters in the Lord’s heavenly kingdom. Although the opportunities to see tio Carding in his lifetime were few and far in between, we will always cherish the memories of those rare occasions, the last one having been in November of 2018 when we got to see him and his entire family, and shared some happy moments with them at the birthday party of my brother Ellis’s daughter Audrey. May your soul rest in peace, tio Carding. We pray for your eternal repose, and for your family, that they may be consoled in this moment of grief.

I meet Ricardo (Ricky as me and some of our coworkers called him) in the 90' s working in S-3 aircraft program at NAS North Island. We developed a genuine friendship as well as working relationship.
He was a joy to be around and I was truly proud to call him my friend.  I am glad that Rainier and I also bonded as close as his father and I did. Thank you both for your friendship.

My family, BJ, Vince, Jovy & I would like to convey our deepest condolence to the Bernardo Family over the demise of our beloved naval officer Ricardo Bernardo who we know very well was a good father to his son and 2 daughters, and a very responsible loving husband to his wife.  Our prayers are with you all. Let's take consolation that he is now with our Creator. May he rest in peace!

I never got the privilege to meet Ricardo, but if his son Rainier was a person to measure against it is easy to tell that he was well accomplished, highly respected and deeply loved. I deeply regret not being able to do much more than express my deepest condolences, as losing someone as close as family is heartbreaking. I'm sure that he will be missed terribly; but he will be remembered fondly for the legacy he left behind that his family will continue to proudly  honor and carry on.
