Ricardo was born on December 20,1928 in Sunnyside, Utah. After graduating from Carbon High School he enlisted in the Navy cadets at the age of 16. He then graduated from Carbon College and joined the Air Force at the age of 18. Throughout his life, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to many business ventures in Baja California, Mexico and San Diego, California.
Although he never truly retired, in the later stage of his life, he devoted himself to social service projects through various organizations. For over twenty five years, he took pride and joy in being a part of the Rotary Club, Mil Sonrisas/Thousand Smiles, and the Mercy Outreach Surgical Team. Ricardo was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and stay young at heart. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
In remembrance of Ricardo Escandon’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Thousand Smiles Foundation.
