Robert, known affectionately as “Papa,” dedicated 28 years of his life to the United States Navy. He began his career as a Boatswain’s Mate and, through hard work and unwavering leadership, climbed the ranks to retire as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CWO4). His service took him around the world, but it was during a deployment to the Philippines that he met the love of his life, Lourdes “Ludy” Moquia. They shared 49 years of marriage and a lifetime of adventures before her passing in 2022.
While his military career was distinguished, Robert’s greatest legacy was his family. He was a pillar of strength who raised three generations: his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He didn't just provide for them; he truly lived for them. Robert was famous for "spoiling" his grandkids and great-grandkids to the max, always ensuring they felt his deep love and generosity.
Robert was at his happiest when he was surrounded by his family. He treasured the time they spent together; whether they were fishing, sitting around a campfire, booking family vacations to create lasting bonds, or trying his luck at the casino. He was a man who found his greatest joy in life’s simple pleasures and the company of those he held dear.
Robert is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Lourdes. He is survived by his four children: Dennis, Merwyden, Jennifer, and Lisa; his 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A service to honor Robert’s life and military service will be held on March 31, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary at 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902. To honor him, please wear the color navy blue.
