February 12, 1972 – March 29, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and boundless love that we announce the passing of Rommel Enriquez Pizarro, who left us on March 29, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1972, in Subic Bay, Philippines. Due to his father’s Navy career, Rommel spent his early childhood in Virginia, Italy, and Connecticut before settling in San Diego in 1982.
Rommel was a devoted son, a beloved brother, and a cherished uncle whose quiet strength and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him.
He was the loving son of Amelia Enriquez Pizarro and the late Rolando Cerezo Pizarro, with whom he is now reunited in eternal peace. Rommel’s career in healthcare insurance was placed on hold for eight years as he selflessly served as the primary caregiver to his father—an act of profound love, devotion, and sacrifice that defined his compassionate nature. After his father’s passing, Rommel resumed his work in the healthcare insurance industry.
A proud graduate of San Diego State University, he majored in Japanese Language with a minor in Economics and received distinguished awards for his excellence in Japanese.
Rommel lived a life marked by humility, kindness, and generosity. Though soft-spoken, his dry wit and humor never failed to bring laughter to those around him—especially his family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and his presence brought a calm and comforting energy wherever he went.
Rommel’s heart found its greatest joy in his role as an uncle. Lovingly nicknamed “Tatu” or “Tats” by his first nephew who, as a baby, couldn’t pronounce “Tito” (uncle), the name stuck—and Rommel wore it proudly. He adored spending time with his nieces and nephews—Joshua-Roman (20), Ava-Michelle (17), Jillian (16), Isabella-Noelle (14), John-Lucas (12), Matteo (12), Jaxon (10), and Zachary (10)—showering them with unconditional love and quiet encouragement. His pantry was always stocked with their favorite snacks, and over the years, he delighted in giving them the little things their moms might not have approved of—Oreos, chips, grilled cheese sandwiches, messy toys, loud gadgets, and Nerf guns. To them, he was more than an uncle—he was a constant, a supporter, a silly and loving friend.
Rommel leaves behind his devoted mother, Amelia; his loving sisters, Michelle Pizarro Vicente and Suzie Pizarro Nacario; his brothers-in-law, John L. Vicente and David O. Nacario; and his most treasured nieces and nephews, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Rommel’s legacy is one of love, sacrifice, and grace. Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with his father in heaven. We will spend the rest of our lives honoring him and missing him deeply.
Rest in peace, our dearest Rommel. Your gentle soul will forever be remembered, and your love will never fade. Thank you for loving us so greatly—with a heart so full, so kind, and so true. We carry you in our hearts always.
