

Rudy Bermudes Batacandolo, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family in San Diego, California.
Born on December 12, 1934, in Ponte Vedra, Capiz, Philippines to Ruperto Batacandolo and Visitacion Batacandolo (née Bermudes), Rudy led a life defined by service, strength, and deep devotion to family.
In 1957, Rudy enlisted in the United States Army, beginning a distinguished career in the armed forces. In 1962, he transferred to the United States Navy, where he proudly served until his retirement in 1977. His years in the military reflected his strong sense of duty and unwavering commitment to the United States of America.
In 1967, while in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rudy met the love of his life, Elvira. They shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, and enduring family bonds.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Elvira; his children, Ruel, Norvell, Vismar Salgado (husband Frank), and Lori (husband Joseph); his grandchildren, Ryan Batacandolo (wife Denise), Anissa Heyting (husband Jacob), and Samuel Salgado; and his great-grandchildren, Lena, Leah, and Juniper.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast love, and the wisdom he generously shared with everyone around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
