

Rudy A. Osuna was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Rudy will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Rudy was born at home on July 31, 1932 at 6:20 a.m. in Los Angeles, CA. He was the son of Jesus Ozuna and Maria Alvarez. Rudy grew up in Santa Paula, CA. Rudy was raised with nine siblings. He had three sisters, Elizabeth Osuna (Deceased), Anita Reyes (Deceased) and Marina Urias, and six brothers, Robert Arias (Deceased), Henry Osuna, Alfred Osuna, Frank Osuna, Benjamin Osuna and Samuel (Larry) Osuna. Rudy was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings and they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Rudy had a great high school experience. He found great pleasure in sports. While in high school, Rudy took Santa Paula High to the football State Championships, for all four years he was there . He was an all around athlete in baseball, basketball, football and track. To this day Rudy’s football score records have not been broken. Though he never set out to gain individual recognition, Rudy was given accolades for his many and varied accomplishments throughout his life. He lettered 16 times during his high school years. He graduated from Santa Paula High School in June of 1951. He then continued his education at George Pepperdine University. Rudy played volleyball, softball, baseball and ran track, earning 10 medals in all sports during the 3 years he attended college. Rudy's dream was to be a football coach. Rudy enjoyed his college years, but never received his degree because he was then drafted into the U.S Army.
Rudy was a Private 2 in the U.S. Army. He received two awards recognizing him for his service, including a Good Conduct Medal and Marksman. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home. Fortunately, Rudy enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Rudy worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was Tire Repair Man. He was employed for Dorman's Tire, which later became Talin Tires, for 35 years. Rudy always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done. Rudy enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were watching football and playing racquetball. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone, but was also willing to share his interests with others.
On March 12, 1965 Rudy exchanged wedding vows with Naomi Huerta at Rosa de Saron Church of Los Angeles, CA. Empathic and loyal, Rudy was committed to making his new family happy. Rudy worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Rudy was blessed with five children, four daughters, Maria E. Osuna, Raquel L. Simon, Deborah R. Osuna and Joanna E. Osuna, and one son John P. Osuna. Another blessing for Rudy was the gift of thirteen grandchildren, James Rudy Dale, Michael Brandon Dale, Angelica Marie Osuna, Briana Alexis Osuna, Eric Alexander Dale, Sarah Reanna Simon, Nathaniel John Peter Osuna, Jason Matthew Osuna-Scherer, Leanna Alexa Osuna, Hannah Rebecca Simon, Joshua John Osuna, Marc-Anthony Robert Dale and Tianna Alexia Osuna, and three great grandchildren, Landen Michael Osuna, Hayden Lynn Dale and Raegen Elaine Dale.
Later in life he became a Missionary going to Mexico, La Paz and San Quintin providing food, clothing and the word of God to the less fortunate, was a Sunday School Teacher and usher at Rosa De Saron Church in Mexico. In 1986 he began attending First Assembly of God Church at 4th and D Street in Chula Vista, Ca. It later became Bonita Valley Christian Center in Bonita, Ca. Rudy become a member of Lake Elsinore Assembly of God in 1994 and for the next 19 years served his Lord and Savior faithfully, continuing his ministry by knowing everyone by name. If you missed a Sunday service, Rudy would know about it and make sure to let you know you were missed. He always had an awesome smile and words of encouragement for everyone that met him. Rudy was an excellent father, a Godly man who learned to put God first, work second and he was a daughter’s first love. Rudy’s happiest times were when he was ushering at church, greeting people. Rudy loved spending time with his family. He really enjoyed playing racquetball and eating right. He had to have garlic cloves with just about everything he ate, and he ate it like it was candy. He was loved by his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Rudy passed away on April 25, 2013 at his Residence in Temecula, CA. from Congestive Heart Failure. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Naomi H. Osuna; Children: Maria E. Osuna (Lance Dale), Raquel L. Simon, John P. Osuna, Deborah R. Osuna and Joanna E. Osuna. Brothers and Sister: Henry Osuna, Marina Urias, Alfred Osuna, Frank Osuna, Benjamin Osuna and Samuel (Larry) Osuna. Rudy also leaves thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and one grand daughter-in law: Marisa C. Dale: to cherish his memory. A Celebration of Life/Memorial Service will be held at Elsinore First Assembly of God, 19740 Grand Ave., Lake Elsinore CA., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Rudy's final resting place is private. There will be a reception immediately following Rudy’s Memorial Service in the Church Cafe. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the: Rudy A. Simply stated, Rudy was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Rudy leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Rudy A. Osuna.
